The Six Steps to Create a Quality Website

How a website project is managed, for a smooth process from beginning to end.

Six clear steps for a more straightforward web design project

Regardless of the size of the website, projects follow a clear plan, design and build process, to ensure the results are delivered smoothly, on time and without any guess work.

The outcome is a valuable company asset that's well designed, easily managed and tailored to the specific requirements of your business.

1. Gather information to provide a tailored solution

An initial chat is the place to start, jump on a call or we can email out our quick brief form to get information about your business and website requirements. We'll gather the information required to put together an obligation-free proposal for your project.

2. Receive your proposal and quote

We'll send you a detailed proposal and quote, with cost breakdowns and estimated timings. Each stage of the project is itemised, to give a clear understanding of costs. A suggested timeline is created to show milestones and launch date. We love to discuss the proposal and make any amends to make sure everyone's happy and excited about starting the project and costs meet budgets.

Our process ensures creative websites are produced that are also perfectly optimised and functional.

3. Your website designed well

Website Design

The sitemap and wireframes are created for approval. 30% of the website is designed and once approved the entire site is designed in Adobe XD. Content (text, video and imagery) are finalised during this stage. Once the design is approved the files are prepared for the next stage and moving on to the website build.

There's usually amends and fine-tuning required during the design stage and we make sure stakeholders are completely happy and all is approved at this stage before moving onto the build. This creates a much more efficient process, reducing the need for amends to design or content as the website is built.

4. The best build and optimisation process

The approved homepage design is built out using Webflow and a staging URL is supplied for approval. Once the homepage is approved the entire website is built and submitted for approval. A lot of the optimisation and page speed auditing is performed as the pages are built. This includes asset optimisation and tagging as well as responsive design testing on different screen sizes and devices.

5. Optimisation and SEO

Website SEO

Once the staging site is approved we carry out final SEO checks including page descriptions and titles as well as open graph settings, so the pages are all set up to be shared online and viewed correctly in search engines.

Here's the complete steps we take for SEO and final optimisation:

  • Image alt text tagging
  • Set correct header hierarchy and check H1, H2, H3... sequence
  • Optimise all images and convert to .webp or .svg formats
  • Set page titles and descriptions to optimal character length
  • Set open graph page title, description and image
  • Test pages using Google PageSpeed Insights
  • Test optimisation using SEO Site Checkup

6. Launch! Ongoing support and reporting

The final step of the project is to connect the domain and launch the new website! Once launched Google Search Console and Google Analytics is connected to the website and we use this data, along with ongoing SEO testing, to create the monthly website report for your website. This report contains information displayed visually that shows how your website is performing and if there's any tweaks required to ensure it's working hard for your business.
